Quick start properties

The automotive gas discharge bulbs are designed for quick start behaviour under all operating conditions - who want's to drive without light in the darkness? Competitive Discharge systems based on DC arc lamps lower quality don't offer quick start properties. Seconds become to hours when you are waiting for a hot restart.

Trace (2) blue of the digital scope shows the amplitude of the alternating bulb current. The green trace (1) shows the internal DC high voltage inside the ballast that is proportional to the bulb voltage. There's a sudden interuption of the bulb current, the ballast goes into self locking error mode. The missing voltage at the control line signals the micro controler a not operating bulb. The micro processor decides a quick hot restart in case the bulb had a flame out in the low power mode. The light output has a very short interuption only (0.065 sec), because the micro processor control has a fast reaction and quite clear the Nucon ballast and the automotive HID technology allows pretty fast hot restarts.
